CONSUMER CLUB ACTIVITIES

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:

Department of commerce instituted in the year 1984, provides dynamic environment in chisel the young minds to be highly competitive and successful.  It grows by leaps and bounds and establishes the branches of commerce namely B.com (General) and B.com (Computer applications).  The department imparts knowledge, skills, positive attitude and ethical values through innovative and interactive methods of learning.  The students are trained to have expertise to face the fast changing environment successfully.

The Department organizes Guest Lecturers, Employability workshops, Exhibitions, Seminars for providing value addition to the students and for the benefit of the academic community.  Regular activities are organized to mould them for the college to corporate life transition.  Industrial visits are also arranged to give rational perceptive of industry academia interface to our students.

ABOUT CONSUMER CLUB:

To disseminate information gained through consumer clubs among their fellow students as well as among the people living in their respective locality to organize and actually participate in consumer protection programs organized in the college as well as in the locality to observe national consumer day and world consumer rights day.

The member of consumer club is expected to discharge the following functions:

1.       To take part in all activities of the consumer club

2.       To disseminate e information gained through consumer clubs among their fellow students as well as among the people living in their respective locality.

3.       To organize and actually participate in consumer protection programmes being organized in their colleges as well as In their locality their fellow students and general public.

4.       To observe the national consumer day (24th December) and world consumer rights day (15th March) etc. proactive knowledge of consumer protection and consumer welfare will be imported to the members of the consumer club through audio visual aids, posters, lectures etc. besides demonstration and street plays can also be arranged debates essay writing , letter writing , contests and quiz programmes as help them learn on their own.


OBJECTIVES:

Ø  To educate consumers, balance consumer needs and degree of protection and to provide relevant consumer rights and entitlements

Ø  To advice individual consumers and protect their rights

Ø  To ensure the prices of goods are fair and appropriate with relevance to its quality and value

Ø  To work with the existing laws in order to protect consumer’s interest and general health

Ø  To encouraging the involvement of the society and consumers in the consideration and standardization and basic provision of their rights.
